The Grocery List for our Timpano Recipe
To make your trip to the grocery store easier, we consolidated all the ingredients you’ll need to create our Timpano recipe in this handy shopping list.
Ingredients
All-purpose flour: 6 cups
Bread crumbs: 1 cup
Tip: For extra flavor in your meatballs, consider using Italian herb bread crumbs.
Olive oil: 4+ tablespoons
Penne rigate or ziti: 1 pound
Tip: We prefer pasta with ridges because it holds onto the pasta better.
Italian plum tomatoes crushed (canned): 56 ounces
Tip: Depending on the size of your Timpano, you may have to make extra sauce. If that’s the case, add an extra 28 ounce of crushed tomatoes and wine.
Tomato paste: 8 ounces
Salt: to taste
Freshly ground black pepper: to taste
White wine: 3 bottles (you’ll use 2 bottles and 1 cup)
Tip: We said there would be leftovers. Enjoy some wine for the cook!
Lemon: 1 large
Carrots: 2 medium
Celery: 2 stalks
Yellow or sweet onions: 2 medium
Shallots: 2
Flat-leaf Italian parsley: 22 tablespoons
Tip: Usually 2 large bunches will be enough.
Minced garlic: 10 cloves
Pancetta: 4 ounces
Tip: If your grocery store deli doesn’t slice pancetta, most packaged varieties come in 6 ounces. That’s ok, use it all in the recipe.
“Country-style” pork spare ribs: 1-1.5 pounds
Chicken breasts: 4
Ground beef: 1 pounds
Sweet Italian sausages: 8
Eggs: 14 large
Unsalted butter: 4 sticks
Fresh Mozzarella: 2 pounds
